Armiger, my Squire from France, is very useful in correcting my French, but whose sensibilities result in a refusal to indulge my whims, which can get a little tedious. However, he is a dear friend and knows the most delectable parties to go to and whose discretion is most highly valued.

Duchess of the Shire's Characters
This blog is an accompaniment to the blog http://duchessoftheshire.blogspot.com/ which is a fictional account of a semi-Georgian Duchess. It was inspired by the love of all things Georgian and is purely fictional. All stories, themes, names and addresses http://duchessoftheshire.blogspot.com/ are fictional but also under the UK copyright laws. © .
I hope you enjoy everything that you read and it gives you some insight to a troubled, scandalous and rebellious Duchess.

This will clarify all the different Characters and give you the opportunity to pick them apart.

Grandparents
Like most people I have two sets of Grandparents but they couldn't be more different.
On my Father's side, there is only my Grandfather who was widowed about ten years ago. There was a great to-do as we found out that my Grandmother had had an illegitimate child who'd been put up for adoption. Unfortunately my Father's half-sister never met her real Mother, but she has integrated easily into the family. My Grandfather recently remarried and my Step-Grandmother is wonderful, if a little dependent, but they suit each other well as they spend their Golden Years travelling the globe.
My Mother's parents however, are both still alive but have been separated for the best part of thirty years. And they couldn't live further apart! Tata - who I should really call Nono but as a child I'd copied my Mother - spends half a year on the Eastern borders of the Continent in the Balkans with various Eastern Goddesses no older than myself, and the other six months in deepest darkest Africa, hunting and God-knows-what-else. Nana, on the other hand lives on the other side of the world, in a country that as of yet has no name, and is inhabited by coloured natives who play strange instruments and live with even stranger flora and fauna. She is a missionary, though is to return to England for a a few months towards the end of this year.
Considering my family's heritage is it not surprising that I am a little jumbled up at times?

Duchess of Tuthershire
An old family friend who has re-entered my life to introduce me to the finer things. She has recently married and with it acquired freedom. We mull over the world and talk for hours with a glass of red wine in hand; the past and the future our topics rather than mindless gossip.

The Peacock Gentleman
He is a gentleman whose sole purpose in life, it would seem, is to excel at all sports and flirt with every woman. Of course there is nothing wrong with this hedonistic lifestyle, in fact I almost envy that he can be so blatant. No doubt it is because he is a man, and men, apparently, can do no wrong.

Luthien
Or is it A. F?
Or a reference to IV...
I do not know who she is though feel free to peruse http://ivage.blogspot.com/ if you think you can solve the riddle.
Until I know more I shall leave it at that.
